My first attempt at product photography. This was lit using a table lamp diffused by two sheets of tracing paper, a silver bounce card, an Ikea battery operated night light and a snooted cell phone to light the label. The setup looked ridiculous but the shot came out great. Water was composited in in Photoshop.

Here's one for ‎details‬ from my most recent shoot with Sydney, we had a lot of fun playing with this specific angle. This shot was specifically calculated to maximize eye-lines, contrast, detail in facial expressions and the reflection. I opened the f-stop all the way to really focus in on the expression and to mitigate any distracting detail both in the window pane as well as background elements. Expect to see a bunch more from this shoot!!

Sometimes you just get really lucky with nature. For someone who close to never shoots without lights let alone a reflector especially when shooting outdoors-this has always been a "no, no" for me. All I brought for this shoot was my camera, 24-70 f/2.8, and an ExpoDisc 2.0... at 12pm on a crowded tourist-filled beach.

We walked around for a bit and found this cool rocky area away from most of the Freeport tourists, think there was a cruise ship which docked for the day so the beach was literally filled with at least 500 people. So we couldn't shoot on the sand part of the beach without getting too many onlookers and people in the background.
When we got halfway to the end of the rocks some seagulls landed just off the edge so I had Jessica pose in this narrow pool in the middle of it-by the time I dialed in all my camera settings the sun was blocked by a cloud so I only had a minute or two to nail down my shot... And well here it is

Think I'm definitely turning into a natural light photographer... can't even think how lighting would've added any more to this shot :)

Sandy's Paradise

Even if the weather might be very sad, Scotland is an awesome country for 2 reasons: breathtaking views and friendly people. They are so kind and easygoing that you'll never want to leave this land. When Delia and me were moving from the Isle of Skye to Edinburgh, we found the best weather of the trip, so it was a shame wasting the wonderful light inside the car. So we stopped every 15 minutes, we were literally surrounded by wonderful places that it was impossible to ignore them. Like the one in the picture. I was scouting the place to find a nice view, but since there was a boat and some houses, I didn't want to stay too long, for not annoying anyone. But the boat's owner arrived after a couple of minutes. So, I was already thinking what to say in order to reassure him about my intentions, But he approached just to have a conversation. Sandy (that's how he's called) was very proud to show me his boat used for fishing and his surfboard. He explained me that living there might be quiet depressing because of the weather, and that's why (in addition to his passion for architecture and art) he spends his time in Italy whenever he can.

My girls and I like going on "adventures" or when we go exploring areas we have not gone to before. This was taken on one of those trips. We found some interesting places like an abandoned village and some interesting roads. We will going back to take more photos.

Cummins Falls

Took a random hiking trip last weekend, and decided to head to a state park in Tennessee called Cummins Falls. I expected a nice hike (which it was) but what I DIDN'T expect was that I had to wade through knee high water to get to a traverse-able path to the main waterfall. The water was FREEZING. My shoes and socks got soaked, my feet were numb, and my legs were sore from the intense workout I had the day before, but when I heard the rumbling of the waterfall, and saw the sheer beauty that it was, all my soreness washes away with the water. It was a sight to behold.
